Bulgaria is getting closer to EU, last week Bulgaria closed another 3 chapters from the pre accession negotiations. This is another sign that the negotiations will be completed on time and Bulgaria will join EU in January 2007 as planed. The last two chapters that remain to be closed are Competition and Others.

 Bulgaria Oks 10% Decrease of Corporate Tax
The corporate tax will be decreased by 10% of the value of the acquired assets. The decrease will be used in the cases when the company meets the state requirements for allotting regional development financial aid. Earlier in the year Finance Minister Milen Velchev pledged that corporate tax would be reduced from 19,5% to 15% in 2005.

Foreign investments in Bulgaria in the period January -April 2004 amounted to EUR 416, 4 M in that way making an increase of nearly EUR 18 M as compared to the same period in 2003. The country has ranked at the prestigious eighth place among the European countries, according to EU research data. There are experts' predictions that foreign investments in Bulgaria will grow by more than USD 1.5 billion this year.
